Who We Are
Unusual ingredients is a multi-sensory collective bringing to life the relationships between sound and flavour. We are a three-person team comprising two musicians and a food anthropologist. Our work draws on the latest gastrophysical research into sensory perception, our music uses exact sonic frequencies and musical gestures calibrated to enhance the mouthfeel, flavour and provenance of each ingredient. Our work has been featured and reviewed in numerous publications, including The Times, The Guardian and Evening Standard. We have combined experience funding, managing and delivering a variety of artistic projects and brand partnerships across food and music. Unusual ingredients is created by musicians Jacob Thompson-Bell and Adam Martin, and food artist Caroline Hobkinson.

The Album
The multi-sensory album comes as a limited edition box set, combining a 14-track vinyl with food-grade packaging housing the edible ingredients. Specially designed by Split Design, each box set is packed with test tubes and petri dishes filled with ingredients for home tasting. Also available as a digital download and through all major streaming services.
Unusual ingredients is an intriguing and successful creative extension of my research into the interactions between sound and flavour perception. Having sampled the music and food pairings myself, I will be following this project closely.
